Edit 5:23pm: New Jewelry Pendant I made today. It's made from a gourd shard, woodburned and colored pencil:

I'm stealing this link from Miserable Beyotch. Funniest fecking thing I've seen in a while!
Richard Simmons on Whose Line is it Anyway?
The steroids are making me better (whattever-ya-gotta-tell-yourself
) I think my house-depression is lifting a little (or maybe it's just the 'roids and I don't mean Hemies) because I've been cleaning and making plans for remodeling. Who got me addicted to Mr. Clean Magic Erasers? I think it was Karos. I seriously need a 12-step group now.
I'm afraid to look in my studio-room right now, though. When Erin moved back in, I moved all of my crap in there. Now, now, now, it's like the room of a psycho-woman with a hoarding disorder.
I guess that'd be me.
Went to see my mom yesterday and give her the wreath I made her for her birthday:
I cut leaf shapes out of gourd pieces, used wax-resist to make the veins and then stained the leaves with leather dyes.
I've been messing with making pendants and jewelry out of gourd pieces. Will post pictures soon.

Well, aren't you in rare form today! I laughed and laughed, then sent the link in an email to share it. And 'not hemies' was too funny. Good to see your sense of humor is present and accounted for today.
I love that wreath. Your mom must too. What you do, because I can't, is so awesome to me. I'll look forward to the pics of the jewelery.
I hope you do actually feel better and that your trip to see Sarah is not hindered this time. I know things with Erin make it tough, but she's a great kid and strong and capable. It's good you and Jim are there for her and supportive. That'll go a long way.
Hugs and prayers,
Deb
The wreath is really wonderful and ii is a beautiful gift for your mother .
Yes , Lisa ; you can easily learn French as you learnt Spanish . I encourage you
Love
Michel
That 11 busines is eerie, huh?
I hope she likes it as much as I do! I was wondering what the leaves were made of ~ they are lovely. Just pendants made of the leaves would be so pretty! That E6000 glue works so well for sticking the pens on the back (I learned that in Cherokee!
) Yes, more pictures please! Glad you are feeling better. Sunshine and chicken soup always help! (((HUGS!)))
And I only thought gourds were used for carrying liquids....the wreath and pendant look really good.
I like your gourd pin very much indeed.
I love the gourd shard - you're so damn artistic !
Ah, another psycho woman with a hoarding disorder. At least there's plenty of room in the craft world for all of them. *smile*
You are such a talented artist! Every time I see another of your pieces, I'm just blown away!
I look at the image in the pendant...a little into transitioning aren't you?
Very beautiful maw!! I love the wreath. I know grandma loved it too!!!
I loved Michelle's remark about your learning french
Your gourd pin is truly magnifico!
Love you sooooooo much
Sarah
Nice gourd ya got there gourdgeous.
i love the pendant. reminds me of Jeanne's creations from saved broken ceramic plates, these tidbits make great junk to fill up cramped living quarters and occaisionally good art if you are so inspired, although that kind of inspiration is totally alien to me, while filling up cramped living spaces with junk is right up my alley.
Maybe you should turn the pics into graphics for cards, mugs etc and put the on CafePress. I would love to see the original gourds but the photographed art work is a treat in itself.
